Meet Your Training Team

Meredith Cox is the owner and Head Trainer for Off Leash K9 Training Memphis. Meredith grew up in a small town in South Carolina where she grew up around dogs, cats, and cows, and developed a passion and love for all animals! Her family rescued dogs of different breeds, and she discovered her passion for training dogs when she began working with her German Shepherd/Chow mix named Duke! A few years after getting her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and learning about Animal Behavior and Learning, she moved to Memphis, TN.

Along with training dogs to be reliable off leash in the most distracting environments, Meredith specializes in behavior modification. She works with dogs with dog aggression, human aggression, reactivity, and anxiety. After finding Off Leash K9 Training, Meredith trained under celebrity dog trainer and OLK9 founder Nick White where she learned to apply the techniques from this world-renowned dog training system to dogs of all ages, sizes, and breeds. She is excited to offer lessons and the famous 2-week Board and Train program in the Memphis, West Memphis, Northern Mississippi, and Eastern Tennessee areas.

Amanda started working with dogs at the age of 11 when she started attending obedience classes with the family dog. In 2010, Amanda rescued Sheila – a feist mix who was under-socialized and highly fearful. After lots of patience, work, and love, Sheila later certified as a therapy dog. Amanda realized her passion and talents for working with dogs in need of guidance and training. Amanda later rescued Kiki – a reactive and under-socialized German Shepherd who she rehabilitated and is now her personal dog (and best friend!) In 2012, Amanda began working in a rescue and rehabilitation facility that specialized in dog behavior and obedience. While there, Amanda cared for rescue and client dogs, and became an evaluator for Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs certifying many others. She also gained experience in herding and agility training. Amanda also has 4 years of experience as a Narcotics K9 Handler for the TN Dept of Corrections where she performed searches for drugs in prisons. Amanda began working for Off Leash K9 Training after certifying through their program in Knoxville, TN. Amanda offers lessons as well as board and train opportunities in Memphis, Bolivar, Middleton, and Jackson, TN.

Shelby grew up in a small town in northern Mississippi, where her passion for animals started from a very young age. She grew up learning everything she could about animals- owning dogs, cats, cows and horses- and entering the local Saddle Club barrel races on the weekends. For her first job, she flew to Wyoming to work on a cattle ranch, where she learned about ranch life and livestock care. During college, she worked for a kennel specializing in breeding and training hunting dogs, specifically Labrador Retrievers. She fell in love with the connection between the trainers and the animals that came through the program, and seeing the owners find a new way to communicate with their dog that made their own bond stronger. A few years after graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree, Shelby decided to pursue her passion for dog training professionally, and found Off Leash K9 Training.

Shelby went through the OLK9 certification training in Knoxville, TN, where she learned how to train dogs using their tried-and-true training methods as well as how to pass this knowledge on to owners. She is excited to offer lessons and board and train opportunities to both the Memphis and North Mississippi areas.
